Councillors question Kalyan-Dombivli civic secretary Kishor Shelke's conduct of general body meeting

Corporators raised questions at today's general body meeting of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation over the working style of secretary Kishor Shelke. The administration's role in how the House is being run was debated, and the issue is now being discussed in the civic body.

Vishwanath Rane, group leader of the Shiv Vikas Aghadi, said that Shelke needs training. Rane said the secretary has an important role in ensuring that the general body functions properly. With Shelke's own working style now under question, Rane's remark has also begun to be discussed.

BJP corporator Mandar Halve also raised questions about Shelke's functioning. The objection has thus not come from one party alone. Corporators of different parties have objected to the secretary's manner of working, which has heated up the issue of the general body's functioning and administrative coordination.

The secretary carries a major responsibility in the general body of a municipal corporation. Ensuring that the House runs smoothly, that its proceedings are completed properly and that coordination among corporators is maintained all fall to the secretary. Following the corporators' questions, it is now being asked whether the administration will offer an explanation.

All eyes are now on the stand the municipal commissioner and the mayor take in the matter. It remains to be seen whether there is any change in Shelke's way of working, or whether any decision is taken on training.

The general body of the corporation is important for local development works, civic amenities and administrative decisions.
