A complaint at Sitabuldi police station alleges that Dhirendra Krishna Shastri's remarks hurt the religious sentiments of Krishna devotees.

The row over alleged objectionable remarks about Lord Krishna has now reached Nagpur. A complaint has been filed at Sitabuldi police station in Nagpur against Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, alias Bageshwar Baba, head of Bageshwar Dham.

The complaint was lodged by Adv. Akshay Subhash Samarth, national general secretary of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan. He has alleged that the religious sentiments of devotees of Lord Krishna were hurt. He has also demanded that the remarks be investigated and strict legal action taken.

According to the complaint, a Shri Ram Katha was organised at Karera in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh on October 29. It alleges that during the Katha, Shastri made a remark about Lord Krishna. The complaint states that he said, "हमारे राम सीधे हैं, तुम्हारे कृष्ण टेढ़े हैं" (Our Ram is straight, your Krishna is crooked). Although the event took place in Madhya Pradesh, the complaint has been filed in Nagpur.

The complaint further says that comparative remarks were also made about Krishna's appearance, body language, flute-playing and divine leelas.

Samarth has said in the complaint that the remarks have hurt the religious sentiments of crores of Krishna devotees. He has therefore demanded action under Sections 299 and 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The police have also been asked to obtain the full video footage of the event, examine the context of the remarks and the circumstances at the time, and conduct a fair inquiry. All these demands were placed before the police in the complaint submitted at Sitabuldi police station. Several citizens were present when the complaint was filed.
