Commercial LPG cylinder prices rise from October 1, domestic rates unchanged

The 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder is dearer by Rs 62.50 to Rs 71.50 in major cities, while the 14.2-kg domestic cylinder costs the same.

The price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has gone up from October 1. The increase varies from city to city. It comes as the festival season begins in the country.

According to IndianOil rates, the 19-kg commercial cylinder in Delhi is dearer by Rs 62.50 and now costs Rs 2,810. In September it was Rs 2,747.50.

In Mumbai, the price has risen by Rs 63, from Rs 2,701 to Rs 2,764. In Chennai, the increase is Rs 66.50, from Rs 2,916.50 to Rs 2,983.

In Patna, the 19-kg commercial cylinder is Rs 71.50 dearer, up from Rs 3,029 to Rs 3,100.50. This is the biggest increase among the cities listed. In Lucknow, the price has risen by Rs 62.50 to Rs 2,932.50.

Prices have gone up in other parts of the country too. In Leh, the commercial cylinder now costs Rs 3,450, against Rs 3,385.50 earlier. In Tawang, the price has risen to Rs 3,073.50. The new rate is Rs 2,831.50 in Ahmedabad and Rs 3,046 in Kanniyakumari.

Domestic cylinder prices unchanged

The price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has not changed in these cities. It remains Rs 942 in Delhi, Rs 941.50 in Mumbai and Rs 957.50 in Chennai. In Lucknow it costs Rs 979.50, while in Patna it is Rs 1,031.50.

IndianOil's LPG price page listed the rates of the 19-kg cylinder on September 1 as Rs 2,747.50 in Delhi, Rs 2,884 in Kolkata, Rs 2,701 in Mumbai and Rs 2,916.50 in Chennai.

LPG prices are affected by the international LPG benchmark and currency fluctuations. The Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC), under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, maintains data on petroleum and LPG prices in India.

The change will affect restaurants, hotels and other businesses that use 19-kg LPG cylinders. Domestic consumers who use the 14.2-kg cylinder are not affected by this round of rate changes.
