Several rules and prices that affect household budgets changed from October 1, 2026. The changes cover LPG cylinders, banking, fixed deposits, ATMs, vehicle prices and the LPG subsidy. They can directly affect household budgets, banking costs and spending on purchases.

The 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder became costlier from October 1. In Delhi, its price rose by Rs 62.50 to Rs 2,810. The increase may add to the running costs of hotels, restaurants, roadside eateries and other businesses. The price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged.

Changes have also been made for fixed deposit (FD) customers from October 1. Under RBI guidelines, the limits on large FDs and the interest rates linked to them have been revised. This may affect customers who deposit large sums and their investment portfolios.

Buyers of televisions, air conditioners and other electronic goods in the festival season will face higher prices. Citing changes in raw material costs and customs duty, some companies have raised the prices of their electronic products from today. The actual increase may differ by company and product. LG air conditioners are 5-7 per cent costlier from today.

Tata Motors has announced a 1 per cent increase in the prices of its commercial vehicles from October 1, 2026. Buyers of new commercial vehicles may therefore have to pay more than before.

ATM charge rules have also changed for SBI customers. The service charge on cash withdrawals beyond the free limit, and on non-financial transactions, is being revised. Those who use ATMs frequently will need to keep track of their number of transactions.

Finally, on the LPG subsidy, the rules for biometric Aadhaar verification (e-KYC) have been tightened for customers who receive the subsidy. Customers who do not complete their Aadhaar e-KYC may face a cut in their subsidy. Subsidy recipients should therefore check their KYC status.
