Gas cylinder prices have changed with the start of October. Oil marketing companies issued new LPG cylinder rates from October 1, 2026, with a sharp increase in the price of the commercial cylinder.

Ahead of the festival season, the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 62.50. This will add to the expenses of hotels, restaurants, roadside eateries and caterers. For domestic consumers, there is relief: the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has not been changed.

The companies announced the revised rates on the morning of October 1, 2026. In Delhi, the 19 kg commercial cylinder will now cost Rs 2,810. At the start of September, the price of this cylinder had also been raised by Rs 9.50. Commercial LPG rates have thus been changing steadily for some time. The increase at the start of the festival period is likely to hit businesses' costs directly.

The 19 kg commercial cylinder is used mainly in hotels, restaurants, roadside eateries, catering and other commercial establishments. The rise in price could therefore increase cooking costs for these businesses. Costlier fuel is likely to push up overall costs, and as a result the prices of food and drink at hotels and restaurants could also be affected.

As for domestic cylinders, consumers have been spared this time despite the big increase in the commercial rate. The 14.2 kg domestic cylinder costs Rs 942 in Delhi, Rs 941.50 in Mumbai, Rs 957.50 in Chennai and Rs 968 in Kolkata. Those buying cylinders for their homes will continue to get them at the old rate.

After the October 1 increase, commercial cylinder rates differ from city to city. The 19 kg cylinder has become costliest in Patna, the capital of Bihar, where its price has risen from Rs 3,029 to Rs 3,100.50.

Oil marketing companies usually review LPG cylinder prices on the first of every month and issue new rates accordingly. The rates are linked to crude oil prices, conditions in the international market and other factors.

Commercial cylinder prices have been fluctuating for some time. The increase of Rs 62.50 at the very start of October will place an additional burden on businesses. Domestic cylinder prices have been kept stable this time, so household consumers have some relief compared with commercial users during the festival season.
