Class 3 girl, 9, collapses in Delhi school classroom and dies in hospital; police probe on

A nine-year-old Class 3 student collapsed in her classroom at Lovely Heritage School in the Maya Vihar area of the capital on Thursday morning and later died in hospital. The incident was recorded by the classroom CCTV camera, and the footage has gone viral on social media.

The school principal said the girl suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. "This is a deeply sad incident. The student suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. She collapsed in the classroom on her own. We took her to hospital immediately. But she was reported dead there. The student was returning to the class after playing," the principal said.

The girl had been taken to Malik Radix Health Care hospital in Nirman Vihar, where doctors examined her and declared her dead. The sudden death of such a young student has left the school administration and the neighbourhood grieving.

According to Delhi Police, a call came to the PCR at around 9:52 am on Thursday. Police were informed that a nine-year-old student of Lovely Heritage School in Maya Vihar had been brought to Malik Radix Health Care hospital in Nirman Vihar and that doctors had declared her dead.

On receiving the information, police began an inquiry. As part of the preliminary investigation, they examined the classroom CCTV footage, which shows the girl suddenly collapsing.

Delhi Police are conducting a detailed investigation to understand the exact circumstances of the incident. Statements of the girl's parents and the concerned school officials will be recorded. The CCTV footage and other available evidence are also being examined. The sudden death of the nine-year-old has plunged her family into grief.
