Nagpur: Cyber criminals have siphoned off Rs 5.87 lakh from the credit card of an architect who had gone to China on business. The case has been registered at Panchpaoli police station.

Architect Amarjeet Singh holds a credit card from a private bank. Add-on cards for his wife, son and daughter-in-law are linked to it.

Singh went to China on business on June 8. There he received a call from a mobile number. The caller claimed that he had stood guarantee for a loan of Rs 6 lakh. Singh denied having stood guarantee for anyone and blocked the number.

He later found that 13 transactions had been made between August 20 and September 11 on the linked credit cards of his family members, involving payments totalling Rs 5.87 lakh. Singh immediately blocked the credit card.

He said he had not shared any OTP, PIN or credit card details with anyone, yet the money was drawn from the card.

On Singh's complaint, Panchpaoli police have registered a case under cheating provisions and the IT Act.
