Chief Judicial Magistrate's official car attacked in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, driver hit with metal bracelet
Two unidentified men attacked the Chief Judicial Magistrate's official vehicle at Wits Hotel Chowk, injuring the driver and damaging a door with a hammer.
An attack on the official vehicle of the Chief Judicial Magistrate has been reported in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The vehicle was returning to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after court work in Paithan. In the attack, the driver was hit with a kada (metal bracelet) and the vehicle's door was damaged with a hammer.
The incident took place at around 4.30 pm on September 29 at Wits Hotel Chowk. A case has been registered at Vedantnagar police station against two unidentified men for assault and damaging the vehicle.
The complaint was filed by Shaikh Ekbal Shaikh Ibrahim (46), a resident of Lane No. 22, Baijipura. According to the complaint, he is a peon at the district court and is currently working as driver of the official vehicle of Chief Judicial Magistrate R.S. Jamboatkar. On Monday morning, after reporting for duty, he took Jamboatkar from the residence to the court. He then drove Jamboatkar, senior clerk Vaidya and peon Sahebrao Patil in the official vehicle to the Paithan court for court work and an inspection.
After the work in Paithan was over, the four were returning to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in the same vehicle. At about 4.30 pm the vehicle reached Wits Hotel Chowk on Railway Station Road. Suddenly a two-wheeler came in front and the driver stopped the vehicle. Peon Sahebrao Patil, seated in the vehicle, gestured with his hand asking for the two-wheeler to be moved.
According to the complaint, this angered the two-wheeler rider. He got down, began abusing them and, banging on the window of the official vehicle with his hand, demanded that it be opened. When the driver did not open the window, he created a commotion. Meanwhile, a man with him on a second two-wheeler took a hammer kept on the handle of his vehicle and began striking the door on the driver's side.
The driver then lowered the window, and the rider took a kada off his hand and struck the driver hard on the face, injuring him. A crowd gathered at the chowk.
On seeing "Chief Judicial Magistrate, Aurangabad" written on the vehicle, the two men fled on their vehicles towards Bansilalnagar. Police reached the spot after the incident. A case is registered at Vedantnagar police station and police are investigating further.
