The Chandrapur district police recognised the mandal for promoting communal harmony, peace and discipline, and for public awareness on social issues during Ganeshotsav.
The Chandrapur district police have honoured the Vanraja Ganesh Mandal of Mohrli with a commendation certificate. The honour was given for communal harmony, peace and discipline, and for raising public awareness on various social issues through striking displays.
The certificate was handed to mandal president Suleman Beg in the presence of Superintendent of Police Ayush Nopani. Beg has been president of the mandal for the past four years.
For four years, the mandal has run several initiatives during Ganeshotsav that carry the message of communal harmony, environmental conservation and public awareness. Notably, under the "One Village, One Ganpati" concept, people of all religions in Mohrli village come together to celebrate the festival.
During this year's Ganeshotsav, the mandal organised a blood donation camp, kabaddi and volleyball matches, a marathon, cultural dance programmes and a health camp. A variety of competitions and activities were held for children, and a mahaprasad was also organised. Awareness was also created on rainwater harvesting, that is, collecting rain water, through the festival.
The initiatives were organised with the guidance of Santosh Thipe, Mohrli Forest Range Officer (Buffer), and the support of Field Assistant Sanjay Jumde and Forest Department staff. Office-bearers of the Mohrli gram panchayat, villagers, wildlife guides, resort and homestay operators, gypsy owners, the president of the Mohrli VEDC, and the mandal's office-bearers and workers also pitched in.
The festival carried messages of communal harmony, environmental conservation, health, sport and public awareness. Government and administration rules were followed during Ganesh immersion. The immersion processions passed off peacefully and with discipline, with significant help from Durgapur police.
The Chandrapur district police took note of the work of the Vanraja Ganesh Mandal in spreading awareness on social and environmental issues through Ganeshotsav. The recognition is a special compliment for the mandal.
