A 23-year-old labourer who went to ask for unpaid wages has been allegedly attacked in Durgapur in Chandrapur. The accusation is against three people, including a contractor. According to police, the young man was struck on the head with an iron wheel spanner and also beaten with iron rods. The complaint also states that his mother, who came to save her son, was pushed and threatened. Durgapur police have registered a case against all three under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to police sources, Lakhmendarsingh Dilbadsingh Sandhu (23, Ward No. 3, Durgapur) works as a labourer. A few days ago he went with Durgapur contractor Akash Mankar to Uttar Pradesh (Bihar) for boiler welding work. The daily wage was fixed at Rs 550. After the work was completed, all the labourers returned to their village, Durgapur. The contractor is said to have drawn the money from the company and paid the other labourers, but not Lakhmendarsingh.

On Sunday, October 4, 2026, at around 7 am, Lakhmendarsingh went to Akash Mankar's house to ask for the money. He was told to come at 6 pm. When he went again in the evening, Mankar allegedly did not pay, abused him and beat him with fists and hands.

Around 7.15 pm, contractor Akash Mankar went to Lakhmendarsingh's house with two associates, Karan and Lucky. Akash was carrying an iron wheel spanner and the other two had iron rods. According to the complaint, an argument broke out over the money and Akash Mankar struck Lakhmendarsingh on the head with the spanner. Karan hit him on the left ribs with a rod and Lucky hit him on the back. Lakhmendarsingh suffered a serious head injury and began bleeding.

Seeing the assault, Lakhmendarsingh's mother stepped in to free him. The accused allegedly pushed her too and threatened her: "We will not spare your son, we will kill him."

On Lakhmendarsingh Sandhu's oral complaint, Durgapur police have booked the accused, Akash Mankar, Karan and Lucky, under Sections 118(2), 352, 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Police constable Zakir Salam Qureshi is investigating the case further.
