Chandrapur: Civic body issues notices to 22 shopkeepers after Raghuvanshi Complex fire

A fire at Raghuvanshi Complex in Chandrapur was brought under control after more than 30 hours, with the civic body now issuing notices to shopkeepers.

A major fire that broke out at night at Raghuvanshi Complex in Chandrapur city was brought under control by different departments of the municipal corporation after more than 30 hours of effort. The entire complex, home to about 50 shops, was at risk, but the administration managed to limit the fire to a single shop. Around 30 fire department officials and staff were involved in the rescue operation.

After the fire was brought under control, the municipal corporation issued notices to 22 establishment holders in the complex and has begun further action as per rules. It is also in the process of filing a case against Messrs Indian Medical Agency under the Disaster Management Act, 2006. According to the corporation, punitive action is being taken as per rules in this matter, and necessary legal and administrative steps are being taken.

Fire department officials and staff worked tirelessly and continuously during the rescue operation. Rahul Panchbudhe and Chivande carried out notable work on the spot despite the risky conditions. Manish Shukla of the anti-encroachment department and his team worked to manage the situation at the site. Chaitanya Chaure of the mechanical department ensured a continuous water supply for the fire engines. Pragati Bhure of the electricity department arranged halogen lights for the night rescue operation. After the fire was extinguished, Gargelwar of the sanitation department and his team immediately removed the burnt debris and goods.

Ahmed Siddiqui of the stores department arranged food, refreshments and other necessary provisions for the officials and staff engaged in the rescue operation. DDMO Saleem Shaikh was also present at the site and actively supported the rescue work.

Under the guidance of municipal commissioner Akunuri Naresh, all department heads and officials and staff worked in coordination, which played a key role in averting a major disaster.
