Central Railway to run no locals between Asangaon and Kasara from October 7 to 18 for third line work
Central Railway will take a block between Asangaon and Kasara from October 7 to 18, with some trains rescheduled, regulated or cancelled.
Central Railway will take a special block between Asangaon and Kasara from October 7 to 18. Local services will not be available between the two stations during this period.
The block is needed to start work on a third line between Asangaon and Kasara, and to begin extending Kasara's "up" yard line. Several works, including pre-non-interlocking, non-interlocking and post-non-interlocking, will be carried out.
The impact on rail traffic is expected to be heavy. Thousands of daily commuters may have to scramble in these days. The timings of some trains will change, while some will be cancelled.
Before the block begins on October 7, the last local from CSTM towards Kasara will leave at 12.30 pm. The last pre-block local from Kasara to CSTM on the same day will leave at 2.42 pm. After the block ends, the first local from CSTM to Kasara will run at 6.28 pm, while the first local from Kasara to CSTM will leave at 8.35 pm. The local timetable has also been changed for October 8 and 9. Timings of trips before and after the block will also change.
The block will also affect several mail trains coming to Mumbai via Nashik and going from Mumbai towards Kasara. Some trains will be regulated from Igatpuri, that is, held on the way. Some will be halted at Khardi and Atgaon.
Among long-distance trains, the timings of the LTT-Banaras, LTT-Patliputra, CSTM-Amritsar, CSTM-Banaras Mahanagari and LTT-Kushinagar Express have been changed. The Gorakhpur-LTT, Pushpak Express, Ayodhya Cantt-LTT, Ballia-Dadar and Gyaneshwari Express will be regulated from Igatpuri during the block. Some trains coming from the Bhusawal division will also be regulated. Trains are feared to run late during the block, so daily commuters may face hardship.
Central Railway says the work between Asangaon and Kasara is part of the Kalyan third and fourth line project. Once the line work is completed, it will help greatly in separating mail-express and suburban train traffic. This will raise the capacity of the rail route and make it easier to run additional trains.
