Central Railway has announced a special 12-day traffic and power block at Kasara. The block will be taken in phases between 7 and 18 October. Passengers of local and long-distance trains on this route may face some inconvenience.

The block is being taken for work to commission the third railway line between Kasara and Asangaon stations and to extend the "up" yard line of Kasara yard. According to information from the railway administration, the first phase will run for three days, from 7 to 9 October. Railway officials have said the works are essential for developing infrastructure and making future train movement faster and smoother.

The first-phase schedule is split in two parts. On 7 and 8 October, there will be a five-hour block on both days, from 3.35 pm to 8.35 pm. During this period, several local services between Kasara and Asangaon will be cancelled fully and some partially. On 9 October, there will be a five-hour night block from 12.30 am to 5.30 am, during which the same power and traffic block will apply.

To reduce inconvenience to passengers during the block, Central Railway has planned some services. On 7 and 8 October, some locals leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) will run only up to Asangaon. These include the 1.20 pm, 2.17 pm, 2.46 pm and 4.50 pm CSMT-Kasara locals, which will go only as far as Asangaon. Locals towards CSMT will start from Asangaon instead of Kasara, at 4.12 pm, 4.54 pm, 5.39 pm and 6.54 pm.

Timings before and after the block are also affected. The last local from CSMT to Kasara will leave at 12.30 pm, while the last local from Kasara to CSMT will leave at 2.42 pm. After the block ends, the first local from CSMT to Kasara will leave at 6.28 pm and the first local from Kasara to CSMT at 8.35 pm.

In addition, because of the block from the night of 8 October to the morning of 9 October, some key services have been cancelled. The CSMT-Kasara local at 10.47 pm on 8 October, the CSMT-Kasara local at 12.08 am on 9 October, the Titwala-Thane local at 11.14 pm on 8 October and the Kasara-CSMT local at 3.51 am on 9 October are fully cancelled. The railway administration has appealed to passengers to check the revised timetable before leaving home.
