Nagpur police, troubled by a string of burglaries in the city, have made a breakthrough with the help of CCTV footage. Mankapur police arrested Kaseeb Shaikh alias Golu Walad Mohammad Wakil Shaikh, 19, a resident of Kabristan Gali in Mominpura, in connection with a theft case.

During questioning, the accused made a major disclosure to police. He admitted that along with his accomplice Raju, he had carried out a total of six burglaries in different police station areas of the city. Police recovered goods worth about Rs 3.48 lakh from the accused, including two-wheelers.

The case began with a complaint from Tushar Devrajwi Dhoble, a resident of Fara Chowk, Mankapur. Tushar runs a daily needs shop in the Mankapur area. Unidentified thieves had broken the lock of the shop and stolen cigarette packets and cash worth about Rs 8,000. The incident was reported at Mankapur police station.

After the complaint was registered, police began investigating. During the investigation, the police team examined CCTV camera footage from the spot and the surrounding area. Two suspects were seen in the footage, appearing to be involved in the theft. Around the same time, police received a tip-off about Kaseeb Shaikh, based on which they laid a trap and took him into custody.

During questioning, Kaseeb clearly told police that along with his accomplice Raju, he had committed six burglaries in different parts of the city. Based on his disclosure, police recovered the stolen goods and the two-wheelers. One accused has been arrested in the case so far, while the search for his accomplice Raju is still on. Police are now trying to establish what role Raju played in the remaining burglaries and where the goods linked to him can be recovered.
