BYD, a major player in the global electric vehicle market, has launched another new SUV. The company has officially launched the 2027 BYD Yuan UP in the Chinese market, known internationally as the Atto 2. The car's Fichi Edition is a refreshed version, and its attractive look, strong features and affordable pricing have made it a talking point in the electric crossover segment.

The new electric SUV is available in five variants, with approximate prices in Indian currency as follows. The base model, the 301 KM Leading variant, has an ex-showroom price of about 74,800 yuan, or around Rs 9.35 lakh, which comes down to about Rs 8.72 lakh with trade-in offers. The 401 KM Leading variant is priced at about Rs 10.22 lakh, and the 401 KM Vitality variant at about Rs 11.23 lakh. The long-range 501 KM Beyond variant costs about Rs 11.85 lakh. The top model, the 501 KM Excellence, is priced at about Rs 13.09 lakh, which comes down to about Rs 12.45 lakh with trade-in offers. This aggressive pricing could pose a major challenge for other brands in the competitive market.

On design, the car measures 4310mm in length, 1830mm in width and 1675mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2620mm. New colour options, Energetic Yellow and Oxygen Blue, have also been added. The cabin features a DiLink 100 cockpit system with a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen, a 50W air-cooled wireless phone charger, and a 60:40 split rear bench seat that expands boot space to 1320 litres. It also gets a panoramic glass electric sunroof and front seat ventilation and heating.

On performance, the car uses a single front-mounted motor producing 94hp and 180Nm of torque. It is fitted with a lithium iron phosphate Blade battery from FinDreams. The 51.13 kWh battery pack gives the car a CLTC range of 501km, while the 32 kWh and 45.12 kWh battery options offer 301km and 401km range respectively. DC fast charging can take the battery from 30 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

According to sales figures, the Yuan UP sold 22,958 units in the local market in August 2026. The car competes directly with smaller electric cars such as the Geely EX2, and its affordable pricing and long range are winning it customer preference.
