The Sakhar Chauth Ganpati tableau made this year by Hanuman Krida Mandal in Bori village of Pen taluka is drawing people's attention. It puts Marathi identity and history on display. This is the mandal's 34th year, and the unity of the past three generations has become its hallmark.

The decoration has been done by Vineet Tandel and Ashish Naik, while the idol was made by Suraj Patil and Chaitanya Mhatre. The tableau showcases the achievements of Marathi people from different fields, including writers, litterateurs, artists and singers. Photographs and frames of these personalities have been put up. Through them, the progress of the Marathi people, their cultural identity, social contribution and historic place in national politics have been brought out.

The tableau offers a glimpse of the Marathi people's journey in fields such as cinema, theatre, literature, education, art, culture, industry and social service. Workers of the mandal said the sentiment behind it is that a Marathi person can leave the mark of their ability in whichever field they enter, and that their steps should keep moving towards progress.

The history section is presented with satire. Lines ranging from "they guard the throne of Delhi" to "in the end, the Marathi breaks the Madhand throne" refer to the historic valour of the Marathas. The tableau also sets out the background of the spread of Maratha power under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and in later periods. It recalls the expansion of Maratha power from the south to north India and the Marathas' role in Delhi politics.

The satirical line "in the end, the Marathi breaks the Madhand throne" links history to present-day conditions. Through it, an attempt has been made to offer social commentary on the challenges now facing the Marathi language and the Marathi people.

Vineet Tandel, who did the decoration, prepared it keeping in mind three things: Marathi identity, history and the path of present-day Marathi society. In history, the Marathi people earned an important place in the country's politics through valour and their achievements. The tableau also tries to draw attention to the challenges facing the Marathi language and culture today. The message is that protecting the Marathi language, culture and identity is not the responsibility of one generation alone, and that this heritage must be passed on to future generations.

The mandal's workers have been celebrating Ganeshotsav with complete unity for three generations. For this reason, awareness on social, cultural and historical subjects is spread along with the religious festival. The festival has earned a distinct identity as a platform for this.

On the occasion of Sakhar Chauth Ganpati, the tableau, which combines religious devotion with history, culture and social awareness, is drawing the attention of people in the Bori area. Through the tableau, the hope has been expressed that the new generation will take pride in its history, move ahead in modern fields as well, and progress while upholding Marathi identity. With a 34-year tradition and the unity of three generations, the festival of Hanuman Krida Mandal in Bori is no longer just a religious event but has become a celebration of history, culture, achievements and social awareness.
