boAt has launched its first smart audio device with CREST AI, built on Google Gemini, letting users interact without touching their phone
India's leading audio and wearables brand boAt made a major announcement today, unveiling its first smart audio device based on CREST AI technology, built with the help of Google Gemini. With this launch, boAt has introduced a new concept in personal audio, which the company has named "Intelligent Ears".
These are no ordinary earbuds. They will not be limited to playing music or audio, but will listen, understand, talk and help users with their everyday needs.
Normally, using AI means picking up the phone, opening an app and looking at the screen. CREST AI was designed to do away with this hassle. The company says the idea is to put intelligence into the earbuds people wear all day, so there is no need for screen time, scrolling or repeatedly opening apps. Users simply have to speak and the task gets done.
At the centre of this experience are three main features, Crest Ask, G-Assist and Crest Translate, referred to in short as "Ask, Assist, Translate". With Crest Ask, users can ask questions directly through the earbuds, discuss new ideas and hold natural conversations without repeatedly touching the phone.
G-Assist turns these conversations directly into action. It is linked with Google Gmail, Tasks and Calendar, allowing users to hear a "summary of the day" or reply to emails using just their voice, with ease.
The Crest Translate feature also offers real-time two-way translation in more than 25 languages, making conversations easier between people who speak different languages. Together, the three features turn the earbuds from a mere listening device into a smart companion that understands the context of conversations and assists the user throughout the day.
Speaking at the launch, boAt CEO Gaurav Nair said, "Why should intelligence be confined to our rooms, desks, pockets or screens? We believe it can come to you in a more natural way.
