The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued an important notice for residents of Mumbai's M East and M West wards. The civic body is set to commission a new water tunnel from the Turbhe low-level reservoir to the Turbhe high-level reservoir to improve water supply in the two wards, and this work will cause a major water disruption.

The work will begin on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 10 am and continue until Wednesday, September 30, 2026, 10 am, running for a full 24 hours. Water supply will be completely shut in several areas of the M East and M West wards during this period. Even after the work is completed, these areas are likely to get low-pressure water supply for the next 7 days. The BMC administration has appealed to citizens to store enough water in advance and to use water carefully and sparingly.

Areas in the M East ward that will face water disruption include Lallubhai Compound, Kamla Raman Nagar, Raman Mama Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Lotus Colony, Gautam Nagar, Gaikwad Nagar, Ayodhya Nagar, Vashi Naka and Mankhurd. Bainganwadi, Bharat Nagar, MHADA buildings, Cheeta Camp, Sathe Nagar, Zakir Hussain Nagar, Deonar village, Deonar Colony, Naveen Bharat Nagar, Hashu Advani Nagar and Natwar Parekh Compound will also be affected. Sahyadri Nagar, Vadhavali village, BARC Colony and the Dumping Supply area are also on the list, along with Rafiq Nagar, Mandala Gaon, Naveen Mandala, Padma Nagar, Vishnu Nagar, L.U. Gadkari Marg, RNA Park, Kukreja Buildings at Vashi Naka, Maharashtra Nagar, MHADA buildings, Indian Oil Nagar and the refinery area on B.D. Patil Marg.

In the M West ward, affected areas include Maitri Park, Ghatla, Chembur Gaothan, Subhash Nagar, Suman Nagar, Chikhalwadi, Ambedkar Nagar, Wamanwadi, Anand Nagar, Lal Dongar, Siddharth Colony, Swastik Park, Postal Colony, W.T. Patil Marg, Mukti Nagar, Kashinath Patil Wadi, Santosh Nagar, Kelkar Wadi and Diamond Garden. Central Avenue Road, N.B. Patil Marg, Janardan Patil Marg, Ghatla village, N.G. Acharya Marg, S.T. Anthony Road, Chandrodaya Society, S.G. Barve Marg, Charai village and Borla Society are also included.

Also affected will be M.S. buildings 1 to 32, that is, Chembur Camp, Sindhi Camp, Vijay Vihar, Bhakti Bhavan, Samarth Nagar, Basant Park, C.G. Gidwani Marg, Gandhi Bazar, Janata Market, Indira Nagar, Navjivan Society and Golf Club, as well as Ramtekdi, Tolaram Tower, Chembur Colony, Konkan Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Annabhau Sathe Marg, Sindhi Society, Jilla Adhikari Colony, Marwali Church and R.C. Marg.

Water disruption will also hit Mahul village, Ambapada village, Mysore Colony, Vashi village, D.B. Realty building, Wadavali, Sharad Nagar, Lakshmi Nagar, Janata Nagar, Vashi Naka, Jijamata Nagar, Jai Hind Nagar, R.C. Marg, Farooq Gully, Patel Nagar, BPCL, Mazgaon Dock, Tata Power, Aegis Limited and BPT areas. Residents of all Bhakti Park buildings, the MMRDA building, Tilak Nagar, Thackersey Bapa Colony, Pestom Sagar, Sahakar Nagar, Vatsalatai Naik Nagar, Shramjeevi Nagar, Shell Colony, P.L. Lokhande Marg, Ekta Mitra Mandal, Malekar Wadi, P.Y. Thorat Marg, Ramabai Colony, Ameer Bagh, Motilal Rahivasi Sangh, Qadriya Nagar, Mahatma Phule Nagar, Ajanta Colony, Sahdeep Colony, Mukund Nagar, Punjabi Chawl, Nagewadi and Cheda Nagar may also face water problems during this period.
