BJP petitions Warora police over obscene comments on MLA Karan Deotale's Facebook post
BJP's Warora city president has asked police to trace and prosecute the holder of a profile named 'Bajrang Mali' over objectionable comments on the MLA's official page.
Warora (Chandrapur): Objectionable, obscene and defamatory comments have been posted from a profile named 'Bajrang Mali' on a post on the official Facebook page of MLA Karan Deotale. Santosh Suresh Pawar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) city president for Warora and a corporator, has demanded strict legal action against the account holder. He has submitted a formal petition to the police inspector of Warora police station.
According to the petition submitted at the police station, extremely objectionable, obscene and insulting remarks were written in comments on a post on the MLA's official Facebook account from the 'Bajrang Mali' profile. The petition says this was an attempt to damage the MLA's personal and public image and deliberately hurt his reputation. BJP leaders also said it was done in a premeditated manner by misusing social media.
Pawar has asked the police to immediately trace the person running the Facebook account and register a case against them under strict provisions of law. He also said digital evidence of the objectionable comments and the post should be preserved, and that the necessary technical information should be sought from Meta, Facebook's parent company. According to him, this would make it easier to correctly identify the account of the suspect, Bajrang Mali, and take action.
The petition also requests that police take immediate preventive steps so that such controversial content does not spread elsewhere. It further asks that the petitioners be officially informed of the action the police take. Screenshots and photographs have been attached to the petition as evidence.
When the petition was handed to the Warora police inspector, BJP office-bearers Dilip Ghorpade, Jagdish Totawar, Amit Chawale, Aniket Nakade, Ajinkya Narde, Pankaj Jadhav, Rahul Bandurkar, Prashant Ulmale, Suraj Keshwani, Aniket Minnalwar, Shubham Golhar and a large number of other workers were present along with city president Pawar.
No FIR, section of law or arrest has been mentioned so far. For now, the matter is limited to the petition submitted to the police and the demand for action.
