A motorcycle rider died after being run over by a state transport bus near Sonoli Budruk village, in a forested stretch of the Talodhi-Govindpur road in the Talodhi-Balapur area. The deceased has been identified as Deepak Vithoba Chanfane, 42, a resident of Mangrul. Naresh Prabhu Kohale, who was riding pillion with him, was seriously injured. Talodhi police are investigating the case further.
According to information available, Deepak Chanfane and Naresh Kohale had come to Talodhi-Balapur for some personal work. After finishing their work, the two were returning to Mangrul on their motorcycle (registration number MH-BQ-4124) via Govindpur road. Near Sonoli Budruk, in the forested stretch, their motorcycle suddenly collided with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, causing them to lose balance and fall on the road.
Moments after they fell, a state transport bus (registration number MH-07-C-9477) running on the Chimur-Talodhi route arrived at the spot. Seeing people suddenly fallen on the road, the bus driver tried to swerve the bus aside to avoid an accident. However, Deepak Chanfane had fallen on the right side of the road, and as a result he came under the bus's rear wheel and died on the spot. Naresh Kohale, who was with him, was seriously injured.
On receiving news of the accident, a team of Talodhi police reached the spot immediately. The injured Naresh Kohale was admitted to hospital for treatment, while the body was sent to the sub-district hospital in Nagbhid for a post-mortem. The accident occurred within a few seconds, and it has left people in the area deeply saddened.
The accident has once again raised questions about traffic safety on the narrow, winding Talodhi-Govindpur road. Further legal investigation into the matter is continuing under the supervision of Talodhi police station's station house officer Rahul Guhe. Police have appealed to motorists to strictly follow traffic rules and drive carefully.
