Bentley launches first electric SUV Torqel with 600 km range, 876 bhp
Bentley has unveiled Torqel, its first fully electric SUV, offering up to 600 km range and up to 876 bhp in the S variant.
British luxury car company Bentley has unveiled its first fully electric car, named Torqel. The new SUV is the fourth model in the company's current lineup. Bentley is launching it in two variants, Torqel and Torqel S, and the company has made clear that alongside electric luxury, performance is also a major focus. According to the company, the Torqel has a range of up to 600 km.
On power, the Torqel has separate electric motors on both axles. The standard Torqel delivers 809 bhp of power and 1,155 Nm of torque, while the Torqel S produces 876 bhp and 1,350 Nm of torque with Launch Control engaged. The S variant accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 260 kmph.
On battery and charging, the SUV gets a 113.2 kWh battery pack and an 800V electrical architecture. The company claims charging from 10 to 80 percent takes just 16 minutes, reducing charging hassle on long trips. Bentley said the car's range goes up to 600 km on the WLTP cycle.
On design, the Torqel gets a new illuminated diamond grille with 76 hand-fitted LED diamonds. Large wheels, a sharp front look and a raised rear body give the SUV a distinct identity. The Torqel S gets black exterior detailing and sportier design elements. It is also Bentley's first production model to carry the company's new logo.
Inside the cabin, there is a curved OLED display, 16-way electric seat adjustment, and heating, ventilation and massage functions. There is an option to use a smartphone as a digital key, along with an augmented-reality head-up display. Multiple radars, sensors and cameras have been fitted for driver assistance and parking. For music, an optional 28-speaker, 1,780W Naim audio system is also available.
For sporty driving, the Torqel gets active suspension with adaptive dampers and all-wheel steering. The rear wheels can turn up to 5 degrees, making it easier to manoeuvre the large SUV at low speeds. Bentley has also developed a Dynamic Symphony sound system specifically for the electric car, using the sounds of real instruments.
