Bank employee found dead in Hyderabad hotel room; man who stayed with her absconding
Police have registered a murder case after B. Sirisha, 34, was found dead in a hotel in SR Nagar; A. Srinivas, 38, has been missing since the incident.
The body of B. Sirisha, 34, was found in room number 103 of Gokul Pride hotel on Dharam Karam Road in SR Nagar, Hyderabad, sending a wave of alarm through the area. Sirisha was a native of Nagasamudram in Vikarabad district and worked as a customer care executive at a bank.
According to police, A. Srinivas, 38, had been staying at the hotel with Sirisha. SR Nagar police have registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Srinivas has been absconding since the incident.
Police have found in their preliminary investigation that the two used fake names and identity cards while checking in. Srinivas registered as "Ganesh" and Sirisha as "Durga". Srinivas had been staying at the hotel since September 9, while Sirisha arrived on September 24.
At about 3.30 am on Tuesday, Srinivas left the hotel alone. According to the police investigation, he had told the staff at the reception that Sirisha would have breakfast and come out later.
When there was no response from the room by afternoon, the hotel staff grew suspicious and informed the police. Police opened the room with a duplicate key and found Sirisha's body on the bed in suspicious circumstances. Police reached the spot as soon as they were informed. A clues team was also called in. Forensic evidence and CCTV footage have been seized from the spot.
According to Jubilee Hills DCP A. Ramana Reddy, Sirisha and Srinivas may have had a bitter quarrel around midnight. The initial suspicion is that Srinivas fatally attacked Sirisha during this quarrel with a heavy object or a curtain rod. The exact cause of death and the weapon used in the attack will become clear only after the forensic report.
The investigation has also found that Sirisha and Srinivas knew each other earlier. Police have been told that the two were close. Some local sources have said that Srinivas had married Sirisha at a temple, but police are verifying this information.
Police have formed special teams to trace Srinivas. Searches are under way at his native village and at major transport hubs. Police are also gathering information about events in Sirisha's past and her earlier medical treatment. Why the two used fake identity cards at the hotel, what the midnight quarrel was about and what caused Sirisha's death are expected to be clear after Srinivas is arrested and the forensic report is in.
