Badrinath Dham, in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, has set a new record this year. More than 18.67 lakh devotees have so far had darshan at the shrine of Lord Badri Vishal.

The earlier record was set in 2023, when 18.39 lakh devotees visited Badrinath Dham, the highest number at the time. This year the figure was crossed in the first week of October, breaking the old record. The number of devotees visiting the shrine continues to rise.

It is expected that the number of devotees visiting the temple this year will cross 20 lakh. Given the large crowds on the yatra, the Badrinath yatra is expected to write another new chapter this year. If devotees keep arriving at this rate, the figure will go past 20 lakh in the coming days.

On Sunday, more than 14,000 devotees reached Badrinath Dham and offered prayers to Lord Badri Vishal. With pilgrims arriving continuously, crowds of vehicles and people have begun to build up on the roads leading to the temple.

Officials and the administration are keeping a close watch on the situation amid the growing crowds. Every activity on the yatra is being monitored and the safety of devotees is the top priority. The disaster management departments of Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts have been put on high alert round the clock. All three districts are important ones on the Char Dham yatra route.

Meanwhile, the rising number of pilgrims has caused problems such as traffic jams at several places on the Badrinath State Highway. As a result, devotees are facing difficulty in reaching the temple.
