The Asian Games 2026 are under way in Japan, where India has won medals across several sports. In shooting, Indian women shooters continued their strong run by securing another medal for the country.

In the women's 50m rifle 3-position team event, India's Tilottama Sen, Vidersha Vinod Kochlumkal and Aashi Chouksey won the silver medal. In this event, competitors must shoot from three positions: kneeling, prone and standing. All three Indian shooters showed strong control and skill in each position, which helped India win the medal.

Tilottama, Vidersha and Aashi together scored a total of 1763 points to finish second. The gold medal in the event went to China, while Kazakhstan's team took bronze with 1754 points.

In the qualification round, Tilottama Sen finished third with 590 points, while Vidersha Vinod finished sixth with 588 points, and both qualified for the individual event final. Aashi Chouksey also put up a strong performance with 585 points, but narrowly missed a place in the individual final.

After the team silver, the confidence of the Indian shooters has grown further, and attention now turns to the individual finals of Tilottama Sen and Vidersha Vinod. Given their current form, both are expected to have a chance of winning another medal for India.

At the start of the event, the kneeling position proved slightly difficult for Vidersha. A few early shots that missed the mark affected her points, but she made a strong comeback with accurate shooting in the prone and standing rounds. Along with Tilottama and Vidersha, Aashi Chouksey also placed among the top shooters in the early rounds, helping India maintain its lead. It was the combined effort of all three shooters that enabled India to win the silver medal in this event.
