India beat Chinese Taipei 37-21 in the Asian Games kabaddi to stay unbeaten atop Group A
The Indian men's kabaddi team's winning run at the Asian Games in Japan continues. Having earlier beaten Bangladesh to reach the semifinal, India dealt a big blow to Chinese Taipei as well. In a hard-fought match at the Tokai Citizens Gymnasium, the Indian team defeated Chinese Taipei by a huge margin of 37-21. With this superb win, India retained their top spot in Group A.
From the start of the match, Indian players put pressure on the Chinese Taipei team with aggressive raids and strong holds. Indian raiders pushed the opposing defence completely onto the back foot with quick movements and precise points from the very first minute. As a result of this sustained attack, India held a strong 23-11 lead at the half-time break.
India's momentum did not slacken even after the break. In the second half, the Indian defence put up an excellent performance, giving Chinese Taipei's players no chance of a comeback. The Indian team tightened its grip further and sealed the match with a big 37-21 margin for a resounding win.
This was India's fourth consecutive win in the tournament. In all three previous matches as well, India had beaten their opponents one-sidedly. With this consistent and strong performance, India have kept their top position in Group A intact and confirmed their place in the semifinal. Given the current statistics and level of play, the Indian team is considered a strong contender to win the gold medal.
With this win, the defending champion Indian team has kept its gold medal campaign on track. The aggression and organised play shown by Indian players from start to finish meant Chinese Taipei could not find a foothold in the match at any point. The same aggressive and organised play is expected from India in the tournament's coming matches.
