India won a fine result on the 14th day of the 2026 Asian Games, with wrestler Aman Sehrawat taking gold in the men's 57kg freestyle event.

His opponent in the final was Han Chong Song of North Korea. The bout was thrilling and had several twists. Aman won the final through excellent play and a strong comeback.

Aman had to settle for a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games. This time he made up for it and won gold.

Aman took the lead from the start and kept the pressure on the Korean. In the first round, Han tried to attack him repeatedly, but Aman showed good technique, held his defence and went ahead 6-1.

Early in the second half, within a minute, Han made a strong comeback. Han's sudden, fast attacks put Aman under some pressure. Aman lost the 6-1 lead and fell behind 6-7. At that point it seemed the bout was slipping out of India's hands.

But Aman did not give up. Even under pressure, he calmly played a fine move and picked up four straight points. Han then tried a takedown, but Aman countered and earned two points.

The Korean side challenged the referee's decision, and the challenge was rejected after review. Under the rules, the challenge failed and Aman was awarded an extra point for it. He thus strengthened his lead further.

In the end, Aman beat the Korean 11-7 to win the gold medal. India has so far won 20 golds at these Asian Games.

This is India's second gold in wrestling at these Games, after Sujeet Kalkal's success. On Friday, October 2, Sujeet beat Abdulmazhid Kudiev of Tajikistan 10-9 in the final of the men's 65kg freestyle.

Sujeet was trailing 2-9 early on, and hopes of gold seemed almost over. He made a strong comeback in the last two minutes and turned the bout around. In the closing moments he gave Kudiev no chance to counter. Sujeet won gold by taking his opponent down four times in a row. He had also won the semi-final one-sidedly.
