The Asian Games 2026 are underway in Japan, and India's performance has been impressive from the start. Indian shooters have added another medal to the country's tally in the pistol category. In the women's 25m pistol event, India's star shooter Esha Singh won the silver medal with a fine performance.

This is Esha's second consecutive silver medal at the Asian Games, meaning she has retained the medal she won last time in this event. The final for the gold medal was extremely thrilling and closely contested. Esha Singh had a fierce battle for the title against a Chinese shooter. Both shooters pushed each other hard throughout the match. After the stipulated rounds, both were tied on 38-38 points.

Although Esha missed out on the gold medal, the courage and brilliant performance she showed is being praised across the country. By winning silver for the second consecutive time at the international level, Esha has once again proved her dominance in Indian shooting. She is receiving congratulations from all quarters for this historic performance.

The Indian team had been considered a strong medal contender in this event, as it included several experienced and proven shooters. The team featured two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker, Asian Games silver medallist Esha Singh, and veteran shooter Rahi Sarnobat, who has won several medals. However, the Indian women's team did not score well enough in the precision and rapid rounds, which pushed the team to fifth place and cost them a medal in the team event.

Despite missing out on a medal in the team event, only Esha Singh managed to qualify for the individual final. Her performance in the final did not go as expected, and she had to settle for eighth place. Apart from Esha, no other Indian shooter made it to the final. Nonetheless, Esha Singh's silver medal has added another entry to India's medal tally, further boosting India's overall count at the Asian Games 2026.
