A traditional indigenous gram sabha and a programme marking the birth anniversary of Veerangana Maharani Durgavati were held with great enthusiasm at Kodepur in Jiwati taluka. Indigenous community members from about 15 surrounding villages attended in large numbers. The event showed the community's customs, culture and social unity. A pledge was also taken to work together for women's empowerment, a liquor ban, village cleanliness and social unity.

According to the resolution of the traditional indigenous gram sabha, it was convened on October 4 at the joint invitation of three hamlets: Shedmake Guda, Jangu Guda and Kodepur. The sabha discussed in detail strengthening the traditional gram sabha system, resolving social issues together, women's empowerment, a liquor ban in the village, cleanliness and all-round development of the villages.

Lingorao Soyam, Shitru Gedam and Santoshji Salam were present as the main guides and addressed the gathering. They said that active participation of women is essential for the progress of society. They stressed that merely discussing issues such as a liquor ban and village cleanliness is not enough and that real action is needed. They also appealed for village development through social unity and decisions taken together with everyone.

Shankar Vetti, Keshav Kotnake, Bapurao Jumnake, Chainrao Madavi, Tukaram Dhurve, Gangu Gedam, Hanumantu Kumre, Sarpanch Gangadhar Atram and Lachchu Valka were among the many local dignitaries and villagers present at the gram sabha.

On October 5, on the birth anniversary of Veerangana Maharani Durgavati, her portrait was garlanded and worshipped with due rites. Remembering her unmatched bravery, self-respect, sacrifice and contribution to society, people paid tribute to her. Drawing inspiration from her life of struggle, the message was given that society should move forward united.

Bajirao Pa. Valka, Limbarao Pa. Valka, Anandrao Pa. Shedmake and Bhoju Pa. Atram were present at the programme. Lata Bajirao Valka, Jangubai Anandrao Shedmake and Nagubai Valka were joined by a large number of women and villagers.

After the jayanti programme, villagers of Shedmake Guda, Jangu Guda and Kodepur came together and carried out a village cleanliness drive. Cleaning up around the village, they gave the message of a clean, beautiful and healthy village. Notably, women and men took part together in the drive, highlighting the importance of shramdan, or voluntary labour.
