Two arrested in Nagpur for hitting man on head with iron rod after parking dispute
Ambazari police have arrested two men for attacking a man with an iron rod at Ramnagar Chowk after he asked them to move a car parked in the middle of the road.
A quarrel over a car parked in the middle of the road at Ramnagar Chowk, in the Ambazari police station area of Nagpur, escalated into an assault. When a man asked for the car to be moved aside, three youths, allegedly drunk, abused him and attacked him on the head with an iron rod. He was seriously injured.
Ambazari police have arrested two accused. The search for the third continues.
According to the information available, Shivani Kanaujia, 26, who lives in Gokulpeth, was returning home by car with her husband Rahul and their young child after a visit to the Telankhedi temple. Near Ramnagar Chowk, she saw three youths with their car parked in the middle of the road. The three were reportedly drunk.
Rahul sounded the horn and asked them to move the car aside. The three youths flared up and began abusing him. The argument soon escalated.
It is alleged that the three then took an iron rod from their car and struck Rahul on the head. He was seriously injured in the sudden attack. The accused fled the spot after the incident.
Police reached the spot on being informed and took the injured Rahul to hospital for treatment.
On Rahul's complaint, Ambazari police have arrested Prince Bhanuse and Pushkar Sharma, residents of Golibar Chowk. Police said both were drunk at the time of the incident. Efforts are on to catch the third accused.
Residents of the area are angry after the incident. Complaints of drunken rowdiness and blocking of traffic from Ramnagar Chowk and the surrounding area have come in before. Local residents allege that illegal hookah parlours reportedly operating in the area are encouraging such behaviour.
Residents have demanded that police take strict action against such anti-social elements and step up patrolling in the area.
