The monsoon is withdrawing from Maharashtra, but people are facing the full force of "October heat" in the meantime. The weather department has forecast that sunshine and humidity will persist across the state today.

While the heat is rising, thunder and rain are forecast for Kolhapur and Sangli districts. The sky over the rest of Maharashtra will be partly cloudy, and the heat and humidity could intensify.

The monsoon has withdrawn from nearly half of Maharashtra. Its retreat continued on Wednesday as well. Current conditions are highly favourable for withdrawal, and the monsoon will leave some more parts of the state in the next two to three days.
