A shocking incident occurred in the early hours at the Matoshri old-age home in Viladghat in the MIDC area of Ahilyanagar district. A resident of the home, Raju Ghule, is accused of attacking fellow elderly residents with a sharp weapon. Two elderly residents died on the spot and six others were seriously injured. The incident has caused widespread shock in Ahilyanagar district.

According to preliminary information given by police, Raju Ghule lived at the Matoshri old-age home. The attack took place suddenly around six in the morning. Police said the attack was so unexpected and forceful that the elderly residents got no time to defend themselves or flee.

Mahakaleshwar Baburao Hene (60) and Dattatray Shankar Harke (85) died on the spot in the attack. Ganesh Chhabu Ghodke (60), Balasaheb Ambadas Ghadge (67), Gorakh Narayan Phunde (75), Sahebrao Dagdu Bhavar (63), Limbraj Damodar Piske (80) and Santosh Bringal (60) were seriously injured.

On receiving information about the incident, a team from MIDC police station and the local crime branch reached the spot within a short while. Police swiftly took the accused, Raju Ghule, into custody. The weapon used in the attack has also been seized by police. Police have launched a thorough investigation to find the exact cause behind the attack. According to preliminary information, it is being said that the attack stemmed from anger after the accused was taunted.

On learning of the incident, police immediately admitted all the injured to the Government District Hospital in Ahilyanagar for treatment. All the injured are currently being treated under the supervision of doctors. The condition of one of the injured is said to still be critical.

Speaking about the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shirish Vamane said, "Raju Ghule carried out this attack at the Matoshri old-age home in the early morning hours. Two people have died in this, and the injured are undergoing treatment. A thorough inquiry is underway to find out exactly what caused this attack and whether there was any old dispute behind it."

Following the incident, the other elderly residents of the old-age home are living in an atmosphere of fear, and the police administration is continuing its investigation into the matter.
