Rajasthan's Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF), which works against organised crime and illegal weapons, has carried out a major operation. Acting on information gathered during the interrogation of two sharpshooters accused of links to the Lawrence-Anmol Bishnoi gang, the team seized two pistols, four magazines and 36 live cartridges.
According to police, the two accused, Rajinder alias Billa and Jaskaran Singh alias Karan alias Sunny alias Katta, had already been arrested in Jodhpur. The investigating agency claims the two had allegedly come to Jodhpur intending to carry out an attack. After questioning them, AGTF got crucial information about weapons that had been hidden away.
On the accused's pointing out the location, an AGTF team reached an area between Pali and Sirohi, where they had received information that weapons were buried underground. The team carried out a search operation and recovered two pistols, four magazines and 36 cartridges from the spot. The two seized pistols are said to be of 9mm bore, one an FX-9 and the other a Glock pistol. The weapons had been buried in a way that no ordinary passerby on that route would have suspected anything.
AGTF is now trying to establish where the weapons came from. The investigation is focused on who supplied the weapons to the accused, whether they had been used in any earlier crime, and what they were meant to be used for. The operation was carried out under the supervision of ADG-AGTF Dinesh M.N. The investigation continues to trace other members linked to the Bishnoi gang and the network supplying the weapons.
The case comes after an attack on Baba Siddique outside his son's office in Mumbai's Bandra East area. According to investigating agencies, three attackers shot him. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died during treatment. Gurmail Singh and Dharmaraj Kashyap were arrested early in the case, while Shiv Kumar had fled the scene.
