Senior Tamil actress Radha has filed a police complaint against her sister, noted actress Ambika, and her brother Mallikarjuna Kunjan Nair. Radha has alleged that blank cheques signed by her were removed from her Chennai home without her knowledge, and that an attempt was made to withdraw a total of Rs 46 crore through these cheques.

Radha filed the complaint with the Commissioner of Greater Chennai Police on September 21. The complaint names both her sister Ambika and her brother Mallikarjuna Kunjan Nair.

According to a copy of the complaint, Radha holds a current account with IDBI Bank that is used for her business expenses. She had kept some signed blank cheques at her Chennai residence to cover routine expenses during travel, such as salaries, electricity and water bills, taxes and garden upkeep.

The bank account was earlier operated under the name ARS Garden Studio. After the business name was changed to RR Gardens in January 2025, Radha received a new chequebook and stopped using the old one, but she forgot that the old chequebook was still lying at the house.

Radha said the bank informed her about the matter on September 17. The bank told her that five old cheques totalling Rs 46 crore had been submitted for encashment in Ambika's name.

As soon as she learned of this, Radha immediately instructed the bank to stop payment. In her complaint, she has stated clearly that she never gave these cheques to Ambika and had no financial transaction or agreement of this kind with her.

Radha has alleged that the cheques were deposited by her brother Mallikarjuna. She has also alleged that Ambika and Mallikarjuna conspired to illegally gain financially from her. According to Radha, the cheques were removed from her room while she was away from Chennai.

Alongside this case, Radha has also made serious allegations regarding family property. She says that for about the last one and a half years, she has been prevented from entering her own property, where she says her valuables, jewellery, property documents and other important papers are kept.

Radha has asked the police to investigate all these allegations thoroughly and to take strict legal action against those involved if the allegations are proved. For now, Radha's allegations remain limited to the claims made in her complaint, and no legal verdict has been reached in the case. The actual position is expected to become clear only after the police investigation.
