Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his comic and supporting roles that kept audiences entertained, has died at the age of 56. His untimely death has left a huge void in the film industry and among his fans.

According to information received, Mushtaq Khan had been unwell for the past few days and was undergoing treatment at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. He had been battling cancer for the past five years. His health had improved once during treatment and he had recovered from the illness, but the disease returned and worsened a few days ago. During the fresh round of treatment that followed, his fight ultimately proved unsuccessful and his battle with life came to an end. His death has left his family and fans in mourning.

Born in Baihar village in Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh, Mushtaq Khan began his acting journey in theatre before entering the film industry in the 1980s. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he played a wide range of roles in more than 250 films. Alongside films, he also worked in television, appearing in popular serials such as 'Adaalat', 'Chacha Chaudhary' and 'Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi'.

He played several characters over his career that audiences still remember. His role as 'Ballu' in the 2007 film 'Welcome' won him immense popularity at the time. Even today, his dialogue from the film, "Meri ek taang nakli hai...", remains hugely popular as memes on social media.

He also became a household name through roles such as Rafu Master in the 1990 film 'Aashiqui', Bhagwati Prasad Mishra in 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke', Chutki Baba in 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' and Gul Khan in 'Gadar'. From the 1990s right up to recent blockbusters like 'Stree' and 'Stree 2', he left his mark with his strong and engaging performances. Bollywood has lost a versatile and much-loved actor with his passing.
