Actor Mushtaq Khan dies of cancer at 56

Actor Mushtaq Khan, who made his mark in Bollywood playing supporting roles, died on Thursday. He was 56. He had been suffering from a prolonged illness.

Khan appeared in several popular films including Welcome, Aashiqui, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, and left an impression on audiences through these roles. News of his death has caused grief in the film industry and among his fans.

According to information received, Khan had been undergoing treatment at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai for the past 15 days. He had cancer. He was first diagnosed with cancer about five years ago and had recovered from it at the time, but the disease later returned and his health worsened steadily. Despite treatment, his condition did not improve, and he breathed his last on Thursday evening.

Khan's close friend Shivam announced the news of his death. According to him, Khan's last rites will be performed on the 25th. His family, along with many people from the film industry and his fans, have expressed grief over his death.

Through most of his career, Khan played supporting and comic roles. His performance in Welcome is still remembered by audiences. He also made an impression through his acting in Aashiqui, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke.

In 2024, Khan had faced a frightening kidnapping. On November 20, 2024, he had been invited to attend an event in Meerut. According to police, he was picked up in a car from Delhi airport and taken to Bijnor, where he was kidnapped. According to some reports, the criminals held him for about 12 hours and demanded a ransom of 1 crore rupees. Speaking to the media at the time, Khan said the kidnappers were stunned to learn that an actor does not have that kind of money, as they believed every actor was extremely wealthy. Khan fortunately managed to escape from there.
