Aadhaar mobile number can now be changed through the new Aadhaar app for Rs 75

Those who want to change the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar card can now do so through the Aadhaar app. A fee of Rs 75 has to be paid for the service. The facility is available in the latest updated Aadhaar app of the UIDAI.

One thing to keep in mind: the option to change the mobile number does not appear directly on the home screen of the new app. Users have to go to the services section and select the option there. They can enter their mobile number and start the update process. Verification and authentication have to be completed as per the instructions given in the app.

The new app does not only offer the facility to change the mobile number. Other Aadhaar-related services are also available on it. The app also allows a user to verify another person's Aadhaar. The option to lock or unlock one's biometric data is also available on the same app.

The steps to be followed to change the registered mobile number through the Aadhaar app are as follows. First, open the Aadhaar app on your smartphone. If your phone has an older version of the app, update it first from the Play Store or App Store.

Then follow these steps. Open the app and tap the services section shown at the bottom. Tap the option to update the mobile number that appears there. Now tap "Continue to Update Mobile Number" and enter the number that is to be linked with Aadhaar.

Next, follow the instructions on the screen and complete the OTP verification. The authentication steps in the app also have to be completed. Once the entire process is done, submit the request to update the mobile number.

The fee for updating the mobile number in the Aadhaar card is Rs 75. After the request is sent, it may take 10 to 15 days for the number to be updated in Aadhaar. During this time, users can also check the status of their request in the app.
