5 best compact sedans under Rs 7 lakh budget
A look at five compact sedans available around a budget of Rs 7 lakh, from the Maruti Dzire to the Honda Amaze.
SUVs may be gaining popularity, but sedans that offer a comfortable cabin, large boot space and good mileage at a lower budget remain a top choice for buyers. Compact sedans can be especially useful for families buying their first car. Here is a look at what options are currently available around a budget of Rs 7 lakh.
The first and most popular name on this list is the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Its starting ex-showroom price is around Rs 6.31 lakh. It comes with a 1197cc petrol engine, along with safety features such as 6 airbags and ABS. According to the company, the Dzire is also available in an S-CNG variant apart from petrol.
The second option is the Hyundai Aura, priced from around Rs 6 lakh, which also fits easily within a Rs 7 lakh budget. It too gets a 1197cc petrol engine and is built especially for everyday city use. Its compact size makes it easy to drive in traffic and park.
Third on the list is the Tata Tigor, another budget-friendly compact sedan. It is available with both petrol and CNG options. There is also talk of a new name and an updated model replacing the Tigor, so buyers should check the current variant and price before purchasing.
The fourth option is the Honda Amaze, whose starting price has now gone slightly above the Rs 7 lakh budget, to around Rs 7.65 lakh. If the budget can be stretched a little, this car is also worth considering. It comes with a 1.2 litre petrol engine, manual and CVT gearbox options, and 416 litres of boot space.
The fifth option is the S-CNG variant of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. This variant can be attractive for buyers who prefer a lower running cost compared to petrol. However, at current prices it starts above Rs 8 lakh, meaning the Rs 7 lakh budget would need to be stretched somewhat for this option.
Overall, if a budget of Rs 7 lakh is strictly fixed, the entry variants of the Hyundai Aura and Maruti Suzuki Dzire are worth considering first. If there is scope to stretch the budget a little, the Honda Amaze or the CNG options can also be considered.
