3.59 lakh ration card holders in Palghar yet to complete e-KYC before September 30 deadline
Beneficiaries who miss the September 30 deadline may have their monthly grain stopped, the supply department has warned.
September 30 is the last date for ration card e-KYC in Palghar district. Those who have not completed e-KYC by then may have their monthly grain stopped, the supply department has warned.
The e-KYC drive was started to bring transparency to the public distribution system and to curb bogus beneficiaries. It has now reached its final phase. About 80 per cent of the work is done in Palghar district, yet more than three and a half lakh beneficiaries have still not completed the verification.
According to the March 2025 entry, more than 9 lakh card holders in the district had verification pending. With the supply department following up continuously, e-KYC has now been completed for 14,36,608 people out of a target of 17,95,729. To give the remaining 3,59,121 beneficiaries a last chance, their list has been put up at all fair price shops.
By taluka, Vasai has the most card holders with KYC pending, at 1,03,643. Mokhada has the fewest, at 18,851. In the other talukas, the pending beneficiaries number 69,393 in Dahanu, 57,435 in Palghar, 31,809 in Wada, 39,732 in Jawhar, 23,592 in Vikramgad and 22,626 in Talasari.
Two easy ways to complete e-KYC have been announced. In the first, beneficiaries go to the nearest ration shop with proof of identity and authenticate by giving a thumbprint on the e-POS machine. In the second, those who use a mobile phone can download the official MERA e-KYC or Face eKYC app from the Google Play Store and complete e-KYC at home by scanning their face. The administration gave this information.
Seema Mahalle, in-charge district supply officer of Palghar, said: "As per the government's rule, this verification is necessary for transparency in the ration distribution system. Only a few days remain until the deadline, so every beneficiary should complete their e-KYC before September 30, so that regular grain supply continues without interruption."
