Vastu shastra holds great importance in Hindu tradition. It is believed that if a home has vastu dosh, problems begin. Similarly, if there is pitru dosh, there is no peace in the house, the elders of the family do not get along with others, and most importantly, money does not stay in hand, causing the household to fall apart.

If you are facing such difficulties, it is worth checking your kundali to see whether pitru dosh is present. According to belief, there is no need to worry if pitru dosh is found. Vastu shastra prescribes fairly simple, home based remedies for it. It is said that following these remedies pleases one's ancestors and reduces the dosh in the home. Here are the three remedies.

The first remedy is feeding a cow every day. In Hinduism, the cow is considered sacred and is called gomata. According to belief, if pitru dosh appears in a kundali, one should feed a cow something every day. Each morning, feed the cow a bhakri, a roti or green fodder and tend to it. It is said that serving a cow pleases one's ancestors. Since not everyone in a city can keep a cow at home, one can instead go to a nearby goshala to feed and serve cows there. It is believed that doing this without a break, day after day, eases household troubles within a few days and helps remove pitru dosh.

The second remedy is circling a peepal tree. This is said to be the oldest and simplest remedy for pitru dosh. One should circle a peepal tree every morning after waking up, going around as many times as possible, with 7, 11 or 21 circles also considered acceptable. It is believed that God resides in the peepal tree, and one's ancestors reside there too, so circling it reduces pitru dosh. It is also important to perform shraddha for one's ancestors at least once a year, according to their paksha tithi. Failing to do so is said to increase pitru dosh, so during Shraddha Paksha one should offer food to ancestors and remember them.

The third remedy is lighting a lamp near the tulsi plant. Most homes keep a tulsi plant. According to vastu shastra, lighting a lamp near tulsi removes all doshas from the home. If a home has pitru dosh or any other dosh, a lamp should be lit near the tulsi every morning and evening. While lighting the lamp, one should silently name one's ancestors and pray for peace and happiness in the home. This small remedy may look minor but is said to have a large effect. It is believed that lighting the lamp daily brings positive energy into the home, invites peace and Lakshmi, reduces quarrels and eases money troubles.
