3-day nationwide bank strike deferred, panel to examine all Saturdays as holidays
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has officially deferred its proposed three-day nationwide bank strike following a high-level meeting with the Indian Banks' Association (IBA).
During discussions between the IBA and UFBU, it was mutually agreed that a joint high-level committee would be formed immediately. This panel will examine the core demand of declaring all Saturdays as public holidays, exploring alternative solutions that accommodate the interests of both stakeholders and customers.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed other key service matters, including proposed modifications to the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Scale IV and above officers, and the expedited resolution of residual issues from March 2024. Given these developments, all planned agitational programs and strike actions have been called off.
