A 16-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death on Thursday night in the Jaripatka police station area of Nagpur. The incident occurred after a dispute at a meat market near Ginger Mall. The deceased has been identified as Abid alias Abu Razzak Sheikh, a resident of Lumbini Nagar.

According to initial information, an argument broke out between some young men at the meat market between around 9 and 10 pm. The argument quickly turned into a physical fight, during which Abid was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon.

Abid suffered serious injuries and collapsed at the spot. On receiving information about the incident, Jaripatka police reached the scene and took him to Mayo Hospital for treatment, but he died during treatment.

After the incident, police stepped up security in the area and began searching for those involved. On Friday, police detained three minor suspects in connection with the killing. Efforts are also underway to trace their remaining associates.

Police's initial investigation has revealed that the incident may be linked to an old dispute. According to information received, Abid had a quarrel with some young men from the Panchpaoli area about two months ago.

Police suspect that the accused called Abid to the area near Ginger Mall on the pretext of resolving the old dispute. It is being said that the matter flared up again at the meat market, following which the attack took place and Abid lost his life.

Jaripatka police are questioning the detained minors and are also investigating the role of other people said to be involved. Police are examining the circumstances that led to the attack, as well as trying to determine the actual motive behind the killing.

Further details of the investigation are expected from Ramesh Dhumal, DCP of Zone 6 of Nagpur City Police.
