A young woman lawyer was killed in a horrific accident on the Ranenagar flyover on the Mumbai-Agra National Highway in Nashik's Cidco area on the morning of Friday, the 23rd. She had left home for court work, as she did every day.
The deceased has been identified as Shital Deepak Narule, 30, a resident of Shubham Park in New Nashik. She died on the spot.
According to the information available, Shital had set out for court on her moped (MH 15 FL 9590). As she was passing over the flyover opposite Hotel Snehinit, a speeding container hit her two-wheeler. The impact was so strong that she was thrown onto the road. She died at the spot from heavy bleeding. People passing along the highway that morning were badly shaken by the incident.
The container driver fled the scene after the accident. Angry onlookers chased the truck and caught the driver in Dwarka.
Ambad police reached the spot soon after being informed and brought the situation under control. The accident caused a traffic jam on the highway for some time, which the police cleared promptly. The absconding driver was caught in the Dwarka area through the vigilance of the public and the police. He was taken to Ambad police station along with the truck.
Road accidents are rising across the state and the country, with many people losing their lives every day. The Nashik accident has come to light amid this.
In another horrific accident on the Nashik-Pune highway, in the Dodi area between the Gonde and Datli underbridges, at about 3 am on Saturday, the 17th, a pickup vehicle carrying workers who were heading towards Sinnar after finishing concreting work hit the flyover wall. Four workers were killed and five are seriously injured. Three of the dead are from West Bengal and one is from Bihar. The injured are being treated at a private hospital.
