Mumbai, October 27, 2026: France's KEDGE Business School is now offering Indian students a route to international management education through its Mumbai campus at Vijaybhoomi University. Students can get a taste of studying in France while studying in India.

According to Dr Navneet Sharma, Director (India) of KEDGE at Vijaybhoomi University, student demand is not the only reason the institution has come to India. Growing business ties between India and France are also a major reason. Sharma said more than 1,000 French business entities operate in India, while there are more than 150 Indian companies in France. These companies need people who understand the markets, business culture and ways of working in both countries.

Sharma said KEDGE Director General Alexandre de Navailles had said during a visit to India in February 2026 that knowledge of French business culture and training could benefit graduates. The institution's aim is to bring its international management education closer to Indian students, and to keep routes open for those who want to study in France later.

KEDGE's Global Bachelor of Business Administration (Global BBA) runs in partnership with Vijaybhoomi University. Students complete the three-year course in India, and the curriculum is built on KEDGE's international academic approach. Annual tuition is Rs 6 lakh, or Rs 18 lakh in total for three years. According to Sharma, hostel and food costs are estimated at around Rs 4.5 lakh for the three years.

Students can also opt for a short academic stint in France. This gives them a glimpse of European culture and business practices without having to do the entire undergraduate course abroad. Sharma said that by taking the India route, students can build the foundation of their studies and careers here while keeping international options open.

For comparison, according to figures provided by KEDGE, annual tuition for studying in France is 15,000 euros and estimated living costs are 21,600 euros. Students and families will have to add up the duration of study, living and other expenses to compare total costs.

For students who want a longer experience in Europe, there is a 3+1+1 route. Under it, three years of undergraduate study take place in India, followed by the first year of the master's in India and the second year in France. Sharma said the degree finally awarded depends on the approved structure of the chosen programme.

Students who complete a qualifying master's degree in France can apply for a residence permit to look for work or start a business after their studies, provided they meet eligibility and immigration conditions. But such provisions only offer an opportunity to look for a job or set up a business; they do not guarantee employment.

KEDGE Mumbai also has master's programmes in supply chain management and sports management. According to the institution, both programmes ranked second in their respective categories in the 2025 world rankings. Sharma said rankings reflect the credibility of a programme but should not be taken as a guarantee of a job or promotion. According to him, career outcomes depend on students' skills, internships, academic performance and the opportunities they choose.

The campus is inside Vijaybhoomi University in Karjat. Business students here get to interact with peers in technology, engineering, design, law and other subjects. According to Sharma, this mixed environment can encourage students to work together across fields, as real businesses do. For instance, supply chain students can be exposed to technology and analytics, and sports management students can interact with those in design, media and technology. Students interested in entrepreneurship can also test their ideas across disciplines. Sharma said the residential campus offers a university-like atmosphere while staying connected to Mumbai's economic region.

On employability, KEDGE Mumbai focuses on industry engagement, live projects and internships during the course, rather than waiting until graduation. Sharma said the institution wants to link Vijaybhoomi University's ties with Indian industry to KEDGE's international alumni network and corporate partners. According to KEDGE, it has 90,000 alumni and 300 corporate partners worldwide. These networks may help students build professional contacts in India and abroad, though internships and placements are not guaranteed.

According to Sharma, KEDGE Mumbai may appeal to students who want an international business education but prefer to start in India. Under this model, families can manage the initial cost of study in India, with the option of a short stint in France or a postgraduate route there. Compared with an ordinary Indian business degree, it offers an international framework and opportunities to study abroad, while compared with doing the whole degree abroad, a large part of the study takes place in India.

Sharma said the decision should rest on students' academic goals, financial circumstances and interest in studying abroad. Students and families should check the programme's approved degree structure, total tuition and living costs, eligibility for routes abroad, and the real chances of internships and jobs.
