KavitaKAFE to hold "Bhoole-Bisre" poetry and music evening at Koregaon Park on October 25

The open mic on memories will run from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Monalisa Kalagram, with poets, a Sufi singer and classic Bollywood songs.

Some memories never fade. A familiar song, an old photograph, a forgotten conversation or a few lines of poetry can suddenly feel like one's own story. Dedicated to such fragments of memory, KavitaKAFE is holding a poetry open mic called "Bhoole-Bisre" on October 25. The event will run from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Monalisa Kalagram in Koregaon Park, Pune.

The evening will bring together poets, music and shared experience. The organisers say it will be a place where the past can be relived, one couplet at a time. Fond moments, unfinished conversations, and the people and places that time carried away often find their truest expression in poetry.

For KavitaKAFE founder Garima Mishra, giving each event its own identity is an essential part of the experience. "From the very beginning, instead of just calling our events an 'open mic', we have given each a name," she says. "Reading on the chosen theme is not compulsory for participants, but it gives them a chance to think differently and write something new instead of reciting something already written."

In this way, KavitaKAFE's gatherings have become more than a platform for reading poetry. Each theme works as a creative prompt, helping people see familiar emotions from a new angle, while leaving room for everyone's own style.

Bhoole-Bisre will have music along with poetry. Sufi singer Onkar Jhanjhote will present his distinctive style, while Anupam Banerjee will bring back the magic of classic Bollywood songs. Together, poetry and music will recall the tunes and words that stay with us long after the moment has passed.

Speaking of his experience, Onkar says, "I have performed at many places, but the understanding and appreciation of music that I find at KavitaKAFE is unmatched. My association with KavitaKAFE matters to me."

Other artists feel the same warmth. Chinmayee Katre has been associated with KavitaKAFE since June 2026. She describes it as a family, where mutual respect, honesty and trust make every poet feel welcome and valued. She praises Garima's warmth, the professional preparation behind each event and the appreciation every artist receives, which sends people home happy and satisfied.

Audience member Nisha Vikas says something similar. "Our association with KavitaKAFE is still new, yet at every event we have seen remarkable human warmth and a very well-organised approach. We are proud to be a permanent part of this wonderful family."

KavitaKAFE began in 2024. It gradually moved beyond poetry gatherings to literary discussions, and in July it launched a literary initiative called Authors' Adda. Two books have been launched on this platform: "Behind the Big Screen: The Untold Stories of Child Actors" by journalist and author Sunanda Mehta and Suchitra Iyer, and "Adhoori Khwahishon Ne: Unfulfilled Desires" by Dinesh Raheja.

KavitaKAFE has been holding its poetry events for about two years at Monalisa Kalagram, whose founder is Lisa Pingle. She welcomes the growing literary activity. "KavitaKAFE is promoting classic Hindi literature and also encouraging new writers," she says. "We are delighted to be associated with them on this literary journey, because we believe in promoting every art."

Ravi Acharya, Tejal Jain, Bhakti Sathe, Rajshree, Priyadarshini Pragyan, Chinmayee Katre, Meha Chopra, Nilofar, Bobby Mittal, Devv, Sarthak Sinha, Vinay Gangil, Shahbaz Khan and Vikas Mohan will recite poems on stage. Bhoole-Bisre will offer personal feelings, familiar tunes and stories that belong to one person yet touch many hearts.

Memories may be deeply personal, but poetry makes them everyone's.
