The India-Sweden Innovations Accelerator brought together Indian firms and seven Swedish cleantech companies on October 28 to explore bringing new clean technologies to India.
The India-Sweden Innovations Accelerator (ISIA) held its 28th workshop in Pune on October 28, 2026. Industry leaders, technology providers and sustainability experts gathered to explore opportunities for introducing new clean technologies in India.
ISIA is a major bilateral initiative promoting cooperation between India and Sweden in cleantech and green energy. It is supported by the Swedish Energy Agency and run together with Business Sweden (the Swedish Trade and Invest Council) and the Confederation of Indian Industry-Green Business Centre (CII-GBC). Through the programme, Swedish cleantech companies enter the Indian market and Indian industries get the chance to adopt proven sustainable technologies.
Representatives of more than 60 Indian companies and seven Swedish cleantech companies took part. The companies showed new solutions in areas such as energy storage, resource efficiency, clean energy, water management, IoT and digital solutions, and clean mobility, including green propulsion.
Since its start, ISIA's achievements include bringing more than 80 advanced clean technologies to the Indian market. It has enabled more than 250 pilot and commercial projects across sectors, facilitated more than 50 industry partnerships and engaged more than 1,500 Indian stakeholders.
Next year ISIA will complete 15 years of India-Sweden cooperation. This reflects a long commitment to advancing renewable energy and green technology, promoting innovation and contributing to both countries' move towards a net-zero future. Going forward, ISIA aims to facilitate more partnerships, help more Swedish companies establish themselves locally in India and have a major impact on India's energy transition.
The milestone comes as India and Sweden deepen their strategic partnership, centred on innovation, technology, trade and investment. Energy remains a key area of opportunity, where Sweden's clean-technology expertise meets India's ambition and scale. As ISIA moves towards its 15th year, the focus will be on turning this strong relationship into new commercial partnerships, local investment and practical solutions for India's energy transition.
The workshop opened with a welcome address by Pranati Shroff Munot, core committee member of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Pune chapter and director of Sustain and Save. She spoke about integrating sustainability into business practices and advancing resource efficiency and environmentally responsible solutions. She said collaboration and new technologies play a role in promoting sustainable development and in the faster adoption of green practices in industries and the built environment.
Nils Hennock, senior business developer (international market development and investment) at the Swedish Energy Agency, delivered the theme address. He stressed strengthening India-Sweden cooperation in clean technology and sustainable development through programmes such as ISIA and the Industry Transition Partnership (ITP). Drawing on his long experience in energy and environmental development, he underlined Sweden's leading role in the energy transition and the need for continued cooperation between the two countries.
In a special address, Eric Odar, trade commissioner at Business Sweden, spoke of strengthening the India-Sweden trade and investment partnership, especially cooperation in clean technology. He pointed to the urgency of cooperation given India's ambition to reach net zero by 2070 and Sweden's strength as a provider of clean energy technology. He stressed thinking long term, investing locally and building strong local partnerships.
In the closing address, Dinesh Ghai, principal counsellor at CII-Green Business Centre, said sustainability goals must be turned into concrete results through proven technologies and strong industry partnerships. He urged participants to carry the discussions forward and seek meaningful collaboration to speed up the adoption of clean technology.
C-Green, Drupps, ECAPS, Elonroad, Enclima Solutions, Holyvolt and PipeGuard gave technical presentations showcasing Swedish cleantech solutions suited to India's industrial and energy-transition needs. Interactive sessions and discussions followed, exploring opportunities in technology adoption, business partnerships and joint initiatives.
A key part of the event was the B2B meetings, in which Swedish technology providers and Indian industry representatives spoke directly and looked at the possibilities for pilot projects, business partnerships and long-term cooperation. At this delegation workshop, ECAPS and PipeGuard also graduated from the ISIA programme, in recognition of their progress in exploring opportunities and establishing a presence in the Indian market.
The ISIA platform is playing an important role in connecting Swedish innovation with India's industrial ecosystem and strengthens both countries' shared commitment to sustainable development, industrial decarbonisation and a low-carbon future.
