Pune Metro Line 3 will be inaugurated on November 3, with commercial service on the Pink Line starting November 4 at 17 stations and the other six to follow.

Pune Metro Line 3, linking Hinjewadi with Shivajinagar, will be inaugurated on November 3, 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate it virtually during a scheduled programme at the Balewadi stadium.

Commercial passenger service on the Pink Line will begin on November 4. The corridor has 23 stations in all, but only 17 will open in the first phase, after the required safety clearance was received.

From November 4, passenger service will be available at these 17 stations: Maan / Megapolis Circle, Maan - MIDC Circle / Embassy Quadron Business Park, Maan Bus Depot / Dohler, Hinjewadi Phase 2 Circle 2 / Infosys Phase II, Hinjewadi Phase 2 Circle 1 / Wipro Phase II, Padmabhushan Chowk / Paul India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk / Shivaji Chowk, Hinjewadi Phase 1, Wakad Chowk, Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex (Balewadi Stadium), MITCON - Balewadi, R. K. Laxman Museum - Balewadi, Aundh, Sakal Nagar, Savitribai Phule Pune University, College of Agriculture (Agriculture College) and District Court / Civil Court.

The District Court station will have interchange facilities with the existing Aqua and Purple metro lines. Passengers will be able to travel from there to other parts of Pune on the operating metro network.

The remaining six stations will open in phases. PMRDA Commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari said two of them are expected to open by the end of November or early December 2026, while the other four are planned to open by January 2027.

Balewadi High Street and Balewadi Phata will not be part of the initial opening on November 4. These two stations are expected to be operational by the end of November or early December 2026, subject to completion of the remaining work and the required safety clearance.

The other four stations are Baner Gaon, Baner Pashan Link Road (Baner), Bhosale Nagar (RBI) and Simla Chowk (Mahabaleshwar Chowk). They are awaiting final safety clearance and are expected to open by January 2027. When these six stations are operational, all 23 stations of the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar corridor will be open.

Pune Metro Line 3 is being built by Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL). The special purpose vehicle was formed by a joint venture of the Tata Group and Siemens. The corridor will link the IT hub of Hinjewadi with Shivajinagar, a major commercial, administrative and transport centre of Pune.

The project is being built on a public-private partnership (PPP) model with the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). It has been awarded to PITCMRL under a design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) concession. The concession period is 35 years, with a provision to extend it by another 25 years. It is one of the first projects to be built under the Government of India's New Metro Policy 2017, which aims to promote private investment in urban infrastructure.

The 23.3-km elevated corridor is designed to improve connectivity on a major commuter route in Pune. It passes through important residential and commercial areas such as Wakad, Baner, Balewadi and University Circle.

Line 3 will also have interchanges with Metro Lines 1 and 2. The corridor will connect to Shivajinagar railway station and to the bus depots at Shivajinagar and Wakad. It will also have connectivity at two points on National Highway 48, which links Pune and Bengaluru, giving commuters more public transport options for coming into the city.
