Parth Pawar assured the NCP core committee that decisions would be taken after consulting it; the Zeeshan Siddique and Umesh Patil appointments stay for six months.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has been going through internal friction for the past few days. Amid this, the party's core committee met in Mumbai on Wednesday. Sunetra Pawar and Parth Pawar were present. State president Sunil Tatkare, national working president Praful Patel and committee members Dilip Walse Patil, Hasan Mushrif, Chhagan Bhujbal, Sameer Bhujbal and Dhananjay Munde also attended.

There was talk in political circles that a group of senior party leaders was unhappy with Parth Pawar's way of working, so all eyes were on what would happen at the meeting. After the meeting, the picture is that the matter has not been fully resolved.

However, it is said that Parth Pawar gave his word at the meeting that from now on decisions would be taken only after consulting the core committee. He is also said to have reiterated that decisions in future too would be taken with the committee on board.

Both Parth Pawar and Sunetra Pawar were seen to remain silent at the meeting on the dispute within the party.

The root of the dispute was two recent appointments. On Parth Pawar's orders, Zeeshan Siddique was recently made NCP's Mumbai president and Umesh Patil national spokesperson. The core committee had not been taken into confidence when these appointments were made, and this angered the group of senior leaders. It was then speculated that the appointments might be reconsidered.

But after Wednesday's meeting it became clear that the appointments made by Parth Pawar and Sunetra Pawar will stand. Zeeshan Siddique as Mumbai president and Umesh Patil as chief spokesperson will work for the next six months. It is said that Parth Pawar took the position at the meeting that a further decision would be made after reviewing six months of work.

On the other hand, according to sources, the confusion over the posts of state president Sunil Tatkare and national working president Praful Patel still remains.
