Hot weather is likely to continue in Mumbai on Saturday, 24 October. The maximum temperature for the day is forecast to reach about 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to stay around 26 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and surrounding areas. It has warned that some places may see hot and humid weather, as temperatures remain high across the region.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region has been going through a spell of above-normal October temperatures for several days. People may face discomfort especially in the afternoon, when temperatures are expected to stay high.

The sky over Mumbai and its suburbs will be mostly clear on Saturday. High temperatures combined with coastal humidity could trouble those who spend long hours outdoors. People have been advised to drink plenty of water, wear light clothing and avoid strenuous outdoor work during the hottest part of the day.

On air quality, Mumbai's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 112 on Saturday morning, according to the Central Pollution Control Board's SAMEER app. Under the national AQI classification, a reading between 100 and 150 falls in the moderate category. However, air quality varies from one area to another, so the citywide figure does not describe every monitoring station.

Among the figures given, the highest AQI of 155 was recorded at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). Mazgaon recorded 146, Andheri 138 and Deonar 119. Worli recorded an AQI of 99 and Borivali 85.

The readings at BKC, Mazgaon, Worli, Andheri and Deonar are counted in the moderate category, which covers AQI values between 101 and 200. According to the SAMEER app, Borivali's reading falls in the satisfactory category.

In the rest of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Thane's AQI was 101, Navi Mumbai's 111 and Kalyan's 101. Thane, Kalyan and Navi Mumbai were thus all in the moderate category.
