A fashion show called Vision Vogue Fashion Week was staged in a crowded vegetable market on Ambadi Road, Vasai, and the video has gone viral on social media.
A fashion show usually brings to mind a big ramp, expensive designer clothes, bright lighting and stylish models. But a very different ramp walk has been seen on social media lately. It took place in a vegetable market, where the models carried radish, coriander and carrots instead of bags or jewellery. The video has gone widely viral on social media.
The show was named Vision Vogue Fashion Week. The unusual event was held in the crowded vegetable market on Ambadi Road in Vasai. The idea came from Mumbai fashion mentor and model Sahil Singh. His aim was to show that, stepping outside the bounds of a traditional fashion show, things seen in everyday life can also be used in fashion.
Both male and female models took part. They were seen doing the catwalk with full confidence through the narrow lanes of the market. Vegetable sellers, shops and customers who had come to shop were around them, and the ramp walk went on amid this setting. Some held a radish, others a bunch of coriander. Some models even used items sold in the market as part of their outfits.
About 50 students of the Vision Vogue Academy took part in the event. Carissa D'Brito, Rohit Chaudhary and Jatin Gami were also involved with Sahil Singh in conceiving it.
Sahil Singh has shared the video of the show on Instagram. A Pahadi song is used in the video, which gives it a distinctly earthy flavour.
The initiative is meant to convey that fashion does not need expensive clothes or a grand stage. Fashion can also be presented on the strength of ideas and confidence. Because a ramp walk suddenly appeared in a market full of people buying vegetables, the video is drawing the attention of netizens.
