After the monsoon withdrew from Maharashtra, the state had begun to feel the October heat, and people were troubled by hot and humid weather. Rain has now returned to some areas. The weather is changing during Navratri, and a rain warning has been issued for some districts of Konkan, western Maharashtra and Marathwada.

Konkan is likely to see mixed weather today. Palghar, Thane and Mumbai are expected to stay mostly dry, while Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts may get light to moderate showers.

A yellow alert has been issued for Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. Winds of 30 to 40 km per hour are possible in these areas, and at some places the speed could reach 40 to 50 km per hour. People in coastal areas should watch for changes in the weather and take necessary precautions.

The chance of rain is comparatively low in north Maharashtra. Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik are expected to stay mostly dry for the next four to five days. There is no specific rain alert, so the heat may persist. The maximum temperature may be around 33 degrees Celsius, meaning discomfort from the sun during the day. There are no signs of heavy rain yet, and people may have to put up with humidity.

Parts of western Maharashtra have had rain for the past two days. Today, light to moderate showers are possible in Pune, Satara and the ghat areas. A yellow alert has been issued for parts of Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Solapur districts. Thunder, lightning and winds of 30 to 40 km per hour are forecast there. Rain may continue at some places for the next two to three days. During lightning, people should avoid standing under trees or in open fields.

The weather may also change in Marathwada. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna districts may stay mostly dry. Light showers are expected in Parbhani and Beed districts. A yellow alert has been issued for Hingoli, Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv districts, where light to moderate rain with winds of 30 to 40 km per hour is possible. Farmers and others should plan according to local weather forecasts.

Most districts of Vidarbha are expected to be dry to cloudy, with humidity in some areas. There is no specific rain alert for the region at present, but temperatures may rise. The maximum temperature may be between 33 and 37 degrees Celsius, so afternoons may be uncomfortably hot. Light showers are possible at some places later, but heavy rain is not clearly forecast for now.

Overall, Maharashtra may see a mix of rain and heat on October 18. Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg in Konkan, some districts of western Maharashtra and parts of Marathwada may get rain with thunder and strong winds. Many parts of north Maharashtra and Vidarbha may remain dry and humid.

People in districts under a yellow alert should be alert to lightning, strong winds and sudden changes in the weather, and should heed local weather updates and administration advisories.
